The Culinary Arts Training Institute is now graduating multiple students on a regular basis and these students are securing gainful employment at the end of their training. The CATI program was developed specifically for those clients who have successfully completed the LifeSkills Program and are entering the LifeApplication Program. Clients who have an aptitude for the food service industry and have shown a serious interest in this area are able to pursue training that will provide them with a career track. Students have the opportunity to cater HRM banquet functions and work with Lighthouse Catering, a ministry of HRM. On-site training for this program is provided by Grand Rapids Community College and many local companies.
The Auto Mechanics/Auto Body Program, in collaboration with the Careerline Tech Center, allows clients in the LifeApplication program to train in the automotive career path. The clients work on the Mission's donated vehicles. They then are able to job-shadow at local businesses to gain more knowledge in the trade. This also introduces them to various people in the field of auto mechanics in the area.
The Ministry Vocational Training Track is a one-year program and is geared for clients who would like to pursue and lay a foundation for ministry. This track will prepare candidates for entry level positions and help them discern a direction for their future ministry.
The Building Trades Vocational Training Track will afford students the opportunity to learn rough construction, trim, cabinetry, roofing, siding, and limited portions of the business aspect of building. This training is taught through hands-on experience as well as book work.
